enrollment considerations

Please carefully consider the following before applying:

  • We frequently use electronic tablets in the clinic, which are provided by CRI. A basic working knowledge of tablet usage is required. It is not within the time constraints of this program to individually tutor students on the usage of electronics.

  • Students are required to access the internet for research and must be comfortable with this or willing to learn on their own time. For students who live in remote areas without internet, planning ahead and working from locations with internet access is necessary.

  • A computer is required (laptop would be best). A smartphone will not be adequate.

  • Vacations scheduled outside of the normal school breaks are prohibited. The program moves quickly, and making up classes quickly is difficult. We have a very strict attendance policy.

  • Students will be giving and receiving massage in the classroom. Students must be comfortable receiving appropriately draped massage from other students in a mixed-gender classroom.

  • Tutoring for skills outside of the massage therapy curriculum are not provided through Columbia River Institute. If additional tutoring is needed in the above areas, you must pursue help on your own.

  • Students are required to receive at least one professional massage per month. The cost ranges from $55-$100 per hour. Please budget accordingly.

  • Smoking, of any kind, is not permissible in this profession due to the scent smoke leaves on clothing and hair
